Iosso Metal Processes is a Family-Owned Business That Has Been Providing Top-Quality Plating Services for Over 50 Years
Iosso Metal Processes consists of a functional chrome coating offering longer life, corrosion resistance, lubricity, and increased surface hardness, with unsurpassed uniformity. This thin dense chrome has critically controlled tolerances therefore eliminating costly secondary operations.
We service a wide spectrum of industries which include the medical industry, automotive, aerospace, food industry, lock components, packaging equipment, hydraulics, and plastic injection molding to name a few.
We are committed to satisfying the requirements of our customer and providing an on-time quick delivery of a quality product. We take great pride in our dedication to innovation and improvement to enhance cost savings and added value.
Our Story
Our founder, Richard Iosso developed a metallurgical breakthrough that has changed the industry forever. His goal was to provide industries with access to parts with a longer lifespan, more efficient production solutions, and cost savings along the way.
Iosso an academically trained chemist and self-taught inventor, developed a chromium-based alloy coating that, when applied to a cutting-tool’s edge, significantly improved its wear-resistant properties and kept the edges sharp longer. This thin, dense coating worked not only on cutting tools, but also a wide variety of component parts. Parts using his innovative process were used on the Apollo 11 mission that flew Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to the moon.
By 1970 International Processing Company of America (dba Iosso Metal Processes) was founded with his wife Grace and later, daughter Marianne joined the Company.
Another breakthrough was his development of a metallurgical process that makes zinc harder which was patented in 27 countries. The Company has since become a supplier to some of the largest companies in the world, and in a wide array of markets.
Richard expanded his capabilities to the fiber industry applying this coating to fiber cutting blades. The coating extended the life of the blades by 5 to 8 times life without diminishing the sharp edge integrity. After many successful years coating and selling blades to the top fiber manufacturing companies, he met and eventually hired Don Ortmann to join the company in 1986. Don’s expertise was in manufacturing fiber cutting blades. He since then has learned all aspects of the business and is the operations manager. Sadly, Richard passed away in 2021, but Grace, Marianne and Don continue to carry on the legacy.
